At Eskaton, individuals from all walks of life share their time and talents to enrich the lives of others. Whether working directly with seniors or in an office setting, volunteers support Eskaton in its mission to enhance the quality of life of seniors through innovative health, housing and social services.
Eskaton has an immediate need for 3-4 clerical volunteers that would be willing to help with fundraising and newsletter mailings. No prior experience necessary. Flexible between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Start today! Contact Suzanne Strassburg at suzanne.strassburg@eskaton.org or (916) 334-0810 for more information.
The TLC Telephone Reassurance Program is currently seeking volunteers for the following positions:
Daily Phone Calls
TLC’s volunteers place calls seven days a week, year around, to hundreds of older adults who live alone and want to remain in their own homes. Calls can be made from the TLC office or from the comfort of your own home. These calls are not just to check on their well-being, but also to socialize. This daily contact can help eliminate the worries of seniors living alone who don’t have regular contact with someone who knows them and their daily routine.
Home Visits
TLC home visiting volunteers provide companionship to seniors who live alone. Our social services staff matches visitors to seniors by common interests and geographic area. The most important aspect of this program is the warmth and companionship it fosters between an older adult and the volunteer. It may even encourage a senior to seek other social opportunities.
If you are interested in volunteering for TLC, please contact Jill Agee at jill.agee@eskaton.org or 916-334-1072, 888-334-3490.
Other volunteer opportunities within Eskaton vary, based on need. For more information about current volunteer opportunities, please contact Suzanne Strassburg at suzanne.strassburg@eskaton.org or 916-334-0810. To be considered for a volunteer assignment, at least four days advance notice is required. Volunteers should be prepared to donate a minimum of five hours.
