The TLC Telephone Reassurance program is currently recruiting volunteers for the following positions:
Daily Phone Calls
TLC’s volunteers place calls seven days a week, year around, to hundreds of older adults who live alone and want to remain in their own homes. Calls can be made from the TLC office or from the comfort of your own home. These calls are not just to check on their well-being, but also to socialize. This daily contact can help eliminate the worries of seniors living alone who don’t have regular contact with someone who knows them and their daily routine.
Home Visits
TLC home visiting volunteers provide companionship to seniors who live alone. Our social services staff matches visitors to seniors by common interests and geographic area. The most important aspect of this program is the warmth and companionship it fosters between an older adult and the volunteer. It may even encourage a senior to seek other social opportunities.
TLC's Annual Holiday Giving Tree
This holiday activity provides a wonderful opportunity to volunteer as a group or as an individual. Businesses, churches, service clubs, schools or families can purchase and wrap holiday gift items for TLC participants, assist in the gift delivery or do both. The gifts that are provided may be the only gift and visit the recipients will receive for the holidays. In 2007, 640 gifts were delivered to TLC participants and residents of Eskaton’s affordable housing communities.
